Engine power. As you can imagine, this characteristic is considered if the choice fell on an electric treadmill. In this case, for home workouts, from 1.5 to 2.5 horses are enough, depending on what speed you plan to develop.

Base size. The dimensions of the canvas are usually selected taking into account the dimensions of the user, as well as the free space in the apartment. However, there are some training tips you should consider to use a treadmill for your marathon training.

I will share five of my favorite tips for running in this post with you in order to help you make the most of your marathon training.

You can feel safer running inside the treadmill if you’re training for a spring marathon example and those dark winter nights are creating safety issues.

Likewise, it is often the only realistic option if you live somewhere where the weather is either extremely hot or humid, or when the weather is cold and cold outside.

Circumstances sometimes dictate that treadmill training is your only option. I worked with offshore oil plant employees and even snorkellers, who used the treadmill for their marathons successfully.


You will have to train in the cold winter months if you plan a half marathon in spring as I am. If you live as I do in the North, when the weather is frigid, snowy, or icy you will not be able to run away.
While it is important to make sure you have a good part of your workout outside, your halve marathon can be trained by a treadmill in different ways.


Speed day is one of the biggest exercises for a workshop. You can do this externally, of course, but it needs your own more memory and effort. A treadmill can do it for you with easy programming or presets to help you improve your pace.
“In a pace run you don’t have to imagine ‘I need to pick it up now’ or, ‘I have to keep up this pace’,” says Kara Goucher, Olympian 2008 at 5000m and 10000m. You set the treadmill and zone out simply because you try to stay there.”
Another advantage is that a treadmill can help you speed up. It’s easy to push too hard or too little out, but on a treadmill that’s much harder to do. This helps you to concentrate and keeps your tempo consistent.


Finally, the treadmill has to be used for your benefit. Run on the treadmill at 0°C and you are planning to run 3 mile outside. Practice some days in a slight tilt, and perhaps once a week a steeper tilt, if your half-marathon is hilly. Use for days of speed. When you are able to travel 3 miles on a speed of 9 minutes, do a speed day where you are traveling 0.25 miles x 4 at a speed of 7.30 minutes, alternated at 0.25 miles x 5 at a speed of 9 mile.
A walking machine is a great way to get variety and whether you do a workout a week or end up on the walking machine for a week because it’s so cold, you will still get the advantage.
A woman with Hungry Runner Girl on her website has done a whole marathon on the treadmill! Also, you can’t run out on those days, don’t sweat it. A treadmill’s going to work OK!

Injuries are the blight of every runner, because they could mean they could not run the race for which you were trained. You can take preventive measures to reduce the risk while still suffering an injury. Extending your feet, warming up and cooling are all great options.

This is what Kenya’s Moses Tanui did in the Boston Marathon training for his two victories: he exchanged speed and pitch, and could increase the recruiting of the numbers and type of muscle fibers that made him quicker.



The temperatures will be dramatically different if it’s February in Ohio and your race is May in Virginia. Because there is a treadmill inside, the conditions will be better imitated, because it is obviously more warm in winter than outside. In addition, it gives you the chance to try various race day equipment, as the temperature will be more similar within the race day than outside.
Another additional benefit is that a walkthrough can help you cope with the boredom during your race and you can develop ways to deal with the mental challenges in advance. You can even use it for a whole half-marathon run at the end of your training, for you cannot make it a problem through your race if you can survive 13.1 miles in a walk!
