How To Clean Treadmill Belt ?

If you have your own treadmill, you should take great care to maintain it. You should know how to clean treadmill belt? Proper handling and regular care ensure that you have something from your treadmill in the long term. The care of the treadmill relates to the location, the external care and the care of the technology.

The location of the treadmill should be carefully considered.

It is important that you choose it so that not so much dust and dirt can settle on the treadmill. So you should try to place the treadmill in a room that your pets have no access to. If pets have access to the treadmill, they may lose hair on it. The hair initially only lies on the running belt (the moving belt), but eventually finds its way onto the running board (board on which the running belt rests), which can lead to faster wear. You should also make sure that you do not enter the treadmill with dirty shoes. The same can happen to the dirt as to the hair of pets.

To avoid soiling the running board, you should vacuum and wipe the treadmill regularly. When wiping, you should not use cleaning agents or solvents as these can damage the material of the treadmill and spoil the adhesion of the tread. This can lead to premature wear of the treadmill.

A lightly dampened cloth is best for wiping the treadmill. For regular cleaning of the treadmill , you should push the treadmill aside once a week to vacuum under it. To prevent the engine from overheating, you should remove the engine cover 3 to 4 times a year and vacuum out the engine compartment.

Maintenance is also extremely important for the technical components of the treadmill.

In addition to cleaning the outside, you should make sure that the moving parts are kept smooth.

Some treadmills have a folding mechanism. Over time, this should be treated with silicone oil or graphite grease  so that it remains supple in the long term.

The most important part of a treadmill is the running belt because it is subjected to the greatest stress. It is particularly important that it is well lubricated and runs smoothly over the running board.

Otherwise there will be friction and therefore severe wear. The lubricating film of the running belt can be easily renewed using a silicone spray. To determine whether you need to lubricate the belt, you can lift the running belt slightly and feel whether there is still oil under the belt. If it is dry , you have to lubricate the treadmill with silicone spray.

To do this, lift the treadmill again and apply the spray from the center outwards. You do this at intervals of approx. 15-30 cm on both sides. Once the spray is applied, you run a little on the treadmill at approx. 5 km / h to distribute the oil.

The care of the running belt is carried out every 4 to 6 months, depending on the use. If you are unsure, you can always check in the meantime whether there is still oil under the belt.

A talcum spray can be used to care for the surface of the belt which is also used in car care. However, this is generally not necessary for regular cleaning with a damp cloth.

In addition to cleaning, maintenance should be carried out regularly which includes tightening the screws.
